Logitech’s G series has been a popular choice of gaming accessories, especially the Logitech G Pro X headset. However, it is not free of flaws. If your Logitech G Pro X headset is completely unusable, try the solutions in this guide and you’ll sort it out. Now let’s look at it in more detail.

  1. Test your microphone
  2. Check your sound settings
  3. Update your audio driver
  4. Allow access to your Logitech G Pro X microphone
  5. Reinstall Logitech G Hub

Before we proceed any further, please restart your computer and then re-plug your Logitech G Pro X microphone. This can help fix some random bugs. Also, check that your microphone is connected properly. After this, continue with the guide below. Note that all the screenshots in this guide are taken on Windows 11, but the instructions work on Windows 10 as well.

1. Test your microphone

Basically, the Logitech G Pro X headset has two clicks when you plug in the microphone cable. You’ll be able to hear audio, but not use your mic when it’s plugged into the first click. You can give the jack a further push until you hear a click and then your mic should work instantly.

Sometimes the Logitech G Pro X microphone doesn’t work due to hardware defects. To check, you can connect your microphone to another computer and see if it works properly. If it doesn’t, then it’s very likely that your microphone is having some hardware issues and you should contact the manufacturer for further assistance. If it works on another computer, please go through the following troubleshooting.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. There are two input jacks on your Logitech Headset, one for the cable connected to the PC and the other for your microphone. Please make sure that they’re connected correctly.
  2. Make sure that your headset isn’t on mute.

2. Check your sound settings

If you have recently updated your system, you may encounter this Logitech G Pro X microphone not working issue, as the sound settings can be misconfigured accidentally. To resolve this, please go to the sound settings and set your mic as default.

To do so:

  1. In the Windows search box, type Sound Settings and press Enter on your keyboard. Then, select Sound Settings from the returned results.
  2. Click More sound settings.
  3. Now switch to the Recording tab, and check if your Logitech microphone is enabled. (You can see a green tick on your mic if it is enabled.) Then, select your Logitech mic and click the Set Default button.
  4. Then, right-click your Logitech mic and select Properties.
  5. Select the Levels tab and drag the volume slider to the max.
  6. Click Apply and OK.

Now check if your Logitech G Pro X microphone works again. If it’s still not working, then move on to the next solution.

3. Update your audio driver

In some cases, an outdated audio driver can cause the Logitech G Pro X to stop working. Hence, one of the first things you should do is update your audio driver. It works for most affected users.

To update your audio driver, here’s what you can do:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key and X at the same time, select Device Manager.
  2. Double-click to expand the category Sound, video, and game controllers. Then right-click your audio driver and click Update driver (the name of the device can be different on your computer).
  3. Then click Search automatically for updated driver software.
  4. Wait for Windows to find the latest driver available for you.
  5. When the driver update is done, restart your computer for the change to take effect.
  6. Then check and see if the problem is fixed.

Sometimes Windows may tell you that “the best drivers for your device are already installed”. However, it’s not always accurate since Microsoft doesn’t have access to all the newly released drivers for your devices.

(Note that desktop apps cannot be individually toggled, but access for those apps can be controlled using Allow desktop apps to access your microphone.)
