Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is an isometric and fantasy game featuring role-playing, exploring, and combat. It’s been a fan favorite since it was released. However, if your Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous keeps crashing, you can try the following troubleshooting guides to fix it.
- Verify Integrity of Game Files
- Update Graphics Drivers
- Perform a Clean Boot
- Disable Steam Overlays
- Update Microsoft .NET Framework
- Reinstall Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous
Before we start troubleshooting, please restart your computer and make sure that your computer meets the minimum requirements of the game. Once confirmed, kindly proceed with the steps below.
1. Verify Integrity of Game Files
When there are corrupted game files in your system, your Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is likely to crash. Hence, to fix the crashing issue, verify the integrity of game files. Here are some steps you can follow:
- Launch Steam and go to Library. Right-click on Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and select Properties.
- Click LOCAL FILES from the left panel, then click Verify integrity of game files….
This may take some time to complete. Once done, check if the problem persists. If so, please try the next method.
2. Update Graphics Drivers
When your Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous keeps crashing at startup, one of the first things you should do is to update your graphics card driver, since an up-to-date graphics driver always ensures the best gaming performance and fewer bugs.
To update your display card driver, here’s what you can do (please note that the following screenshots are taken on Windows 11, but the instructions work on Windows 10 as well):
- On your keyboard, press the Windows key and X at the same time, select Device Manager.
- Double-click to expand the category Display adapters. Then right-click your graphic card driver and click Update driver (the name of the device can be different on your computer).
- Then click Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Wait for Windows to find the latest driver available for you.
- When the driver update is done, restart your computer for the change to take effect.
- Then check and see if the problem is fixed.
If Windows says that it’s already found the latest driver for you, so no newer drivers are found, then you should consider updating your graphics driver in a different way with the help of Driver Techie.

3. Perform a Clean Boot
Sometimes a third-party software can cause your Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous to crash. In this case, a clean boot environment can ensure that there is no third-party software interfering with your game.
To do so:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R together to invoke the Run prompt. Type MSConfig and press Enter.
- From the top menu, select the Services tab, and check Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Disable all.
- Now, click the Startup tab from the top menu and click Open Task Manager. Click each of the tasks and click Disable.
- Now, back to the System Configuration page and click the OK button to reboot your computer.
Check if this method works for you. If not, try the next one.
4. Disable Steam Overlays
The in-game overlay can also be the cause of the game crashing issue. It might interfere with your game and block the game files. Therefore, we recommend you disable the Steam overlays for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.
Here’s how to do it:
- Launch Steam and go to Library. Right-click on Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and select Properties.
- When in the GENERAL settings, uncheck the Enable Steam Overlay while in-game checkbox.
Re-launch Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and see if the problem is resolved. If not, move on to the next fix.
5. Update Microsoft .NET Framework
.NET Framework is used to create and run software applications. If your Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous keeps crashing, it may be due to the outdated .NET Framework. In this case, you can try updating Microsoft .NET Framework.
To do so:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R together to invoke the Run prompt. Paste the following location and hit Enter:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\DotNet\4.5.2
- Then, look for the NDP452-KB2901907-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe file and double-click to run it.
- Once done, restart your PC.
Check if your game runs properly. If it still crashes, you can try updating Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable as well and see if it helps. Here’s what you can do:
- Again, press the Windows logo key and R together on your keyboard to invoke the Run prompt. Paste the following location and hit Enter:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\vcredist
- In this folder, you should see the following files:
2012\vc_redist.x64.exe
2013\vc_redist.x64.exe
2019\vc_redist.x64.exe - Run all the executable(.exe) files listed in the folder.
- Restart your computer.
Now, check if the problem is resolved. If not, the last solution we recommend is to reinstall your game as in Tip #6.
6. Reinstall Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
So, when all the workarounds above fail to resolve the crashing issue for your Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, the final solution would be a reinstall of your game. To do so:
- Launch the Steam client and go to Library.
- Right-click the Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous game and select Manage.
- Select Uninstall. Click the Uninstall button again if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation.
- Once done, restart your computer.
- Open the Steam client again and reinstall the game Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous using your Steam account.
