[Solved] PCI Device Driver Problems on Windows 11/10/8/7
Do you see a yellow exclamation mark next to the PCI devices under the category Other Device in Device Manager?
Worry not: in this article, we will bring you some solutions to fix it.
But before we start troubleshooting, let’s take a look at what PCI is.
PCI, also known as Peripheral Component Interconnect, is a local computer bus for attaching hardware devices in a computer. Basically, it facilitates the communication of hardware devices of all types such as audio, video, network, or graphics with the microprocessor.
When these PCI devices are shown in Device Manager, they mean that there are some devices disconnected from the motherboard. Follow the instructions below to get this issue fixed.
- Reinstall PCI device drivers from Device Manager
- Reinstall PCI device drivers manually
- Update PCI device drivers automatically
1. Reinstall PCI device drivers in Device Manager
When you see the yellow exclamation marks showing next to the PCI devices, the first thing you should do is reinstall each driver via Device Manager. Here’s how to do it:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows key and the X key together, select Device Manager.
- Double-click to expand the category Other Devices. Then right-click on a PCI device and select Uninstall Device.
- Once completed, restart your computer and open Device Manager again to see if the issue is resolved. If not, try the next method.
2. Reinstall PCI device drivers manually
If the first method fails to reinstall the PCI device driver for you, then try to do it manually. You can use the hardware ID to download and install the matched driver. Here’s how you can do it:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows key and the X key together, select Device Manager.
- Double-click to expand the category Other Devices. Then right-click on a PCI device and select Properties.
- Select the Details tab, click on the drop-down menu under Property and choose Hardware Ids. Now the hardware Ids will be listed in the Value box. Right-click on the first ID and select Copy.
- Paste and search for it in Google. Adding keywords like Driver or Windows 10/8/7 is recommended. (Please note that if you cannot find the correct driver with the first ID, then try the next one listed in the Value box)
- Download the correct driver and install it.
- Restart your computer.
This is the most effective way for you to resolve the issue. But if you’re looking for a much easier method, please refer to Method 3.
